Shades

Shades

Shades bring a variety of textures to the table, available in an assortment of weaves, soft fabrics and handwoven materials like grasses, jute and bamboo. While shutters and blinds offer an extra element of light control through tilt mechanisms, shades are simply raised and lowered to adjust how much light comes through the windows. Shades are one of the most customizable options available from the fabric design and color to their transparency or opaqueness. It’s also common for shades to have characteristics like UV protection, which add to their usefulness. Below are some examples of the most common shade choices available

Roller Shades

Roller and solar shades utilize a built-in roller system to slide the shades into place over your windows. They have a beaded chain allowing you to control precisely where the shade is positioned. Roller shades also have an option of being cord free or motorized. The fabrics available for roller shades range from sheer for plenty of light and a view of the outdoors to opaque for more privacy and a room darkening effect. They come with either a curved cassette headrail, classic 6" valance or no valance option.

Zebra Shades
Zebra Shades

Multi-functional zebra shades create the perfect combination of light and privacy. Fabrics feature a unique construction of either blackout or semi-translucent light filtering bands. In between these bands is a transparent netting. Keep the fabric open for alternating light and privacy levels or staggered in a closed position for complete privacy and light blockage. They come with either a beaded chain control or can be motorized.

Woven Wood Shades

If you desire a tranquil, natural effect then you’d be hard pressed to find a better option than woven wood shades. Woven wood shades are made of renewable materials including bamboo, jute, and reeds. These shades can be woven densely for tighter light control and privacy or looser for a relaxed, light filtering effect. You can add a lining to the back of the shade for additional privacy or blackout. The control options include cordless, continuous beaded chain or motorized. If you have a sliding glass door, woven woods can slide on an aluminum track.

They are available in light filtering or room darkening material and for more privacy they can have a top down bottom up feature added. The extensive array of fabrics provide multiple levels of privacy, light control, sound absorption and energy efficiency. The control options are cord free or motorized.
